Dr. Fox and his health care team at the Advanced Lap Band Center attract many patients from across the region. We are flattered that many of our patients travel long distances to have LAP-BAND® surgery performed by Dr. Fox. We appreciate this and take very good care of our out-of-town patients and their families.

 

Planning Your First Visit

• An “all in one” office visit combines both the initial office visit with the pre-op visit. This works best for the cash paying patient that does not have to wait for insurance approval. Also, a visit with the dietitian can be arranged at this time.
• Initial office visit and await insurance approval, followed by pre-op visit
• Preliminary paperwork for your surgery, including insurance approval, can be completed by telephone, e-mail, or fax before you arrive for your office visit.
• All patients must be seen by a dietitian for bariatric nutritional assessment and counseling. Depending on insurance requirements, a psychologist that is familiar with bariatric surgery patient evaluation may also be necessary. We can provide these services “in house” at our center or you may arrange for these consultations in your local area. There are a number of dietitians and psychologists that we have worked with throughout the region or we can provide names to you to facilitate the completion of this part of the pre-op assessment.

 

Where to Stay

People who live within 2-2 ½ hours from Dallas usually return home the same day. If you desire to arrive a day early, and/or spend the first post-operative night in Dallas, we will assist you in obtaining local accommodations.

 

Post-Op Care

Early post-op checks can be done by phone. It is very rare to see a problem in the immediate or early post-op period. Although unlikely, a problem may occur resulting in a return trip to Dallas sooner than anticipated. The first post-operative visit is usually at 2 weeks, but many out-of-town patients return at 3-4 weeks for an office visit along with their first AfterCare visit, which may include an adjustment, if needed. Monthly office and AfterCare visits for the first six months is average for most patients. Some more often, others less frequent.
